As the third and final jewel of the coveted Triple Crown™, Belmont Stakes is the race to attend for all of horseracing’s elite. With past winners such as Creator in 2016 and ever-so popular American Pharoah, who completed the Triple Crown™ in 2015, the 2017 Belmont Stakes will prove to set out to break history again.
TRACK HISTORY & TRADITIONS:
Named after August Belmont Sr., The Belmont Stakes has a deep rooted history which began in 1867. Known as one of the oldest stakes races in North America and as the home to the prized Triple Crown™, history continues to be made in Belmont Park. Some of the tracks traditions include white carnations draped over the winner to signify love and luck and a silver bowl and cover made by Tiffany & Co, more formally known as The August Belmont Memorial Cup.
